Illinois State Requirements
Cosmetologist Certify on the renewal application to successful completion of a minimum of 14 hours of continuing education and nail technicians and estheticians a minimum of 10 hours of continuing education from a cosmetology sponsor registered with the Division, within the 2 years prior to the expiration date of the license. One half of the required continuing education hours can be acquired via online or correspondence. A pre-renewal period is the 24 month period proceeding the renewal date in the year of renewal.
License expiration date:
- Cosmetologist - September 30 of each odd numbered year.
- Nail technicians - October 31 of each even numbered year.
- Estheticians - September 30 of each odd numbered year.
